Accommodation Each student will be placed in a clean, tidy, safe and friendly family home. They will have their own room and three substantial meals provided each day. If the family dines out at any time, the cost of the meal will be met by the homestay family. The homestay provider is responsible to wash and iron the student’s clothes, unless the student asks to do this themselves. Bed linen and towels will be washed at least weekly.
Transport to and from the College will be provided by the homestay family, at no cost to the student.
Telephone access is at the student’s expense, preferably by the use of a “NO CONNECTION FEES” phone card that can be purchased in Coolum.
Supervision The homestay providers are expected to act as parents for the student while they are in Australia, and are responsible for proper care of the student. It is essential that the host parents know the student’s whereabouts at all times and who they are with. Improper behaviour of any kind (including drinking alcohol, smoking or drug taking) will not be tolerated).
Family outings It is expected that the host family will treat the student as a member of the family and will encourage the student to accompany them on family outings. The student will not be left alone at home for long periods. Students have their own spending money and are expected to pay their own entrance fee or related costs on family outings (e.g. to movies, fun parks).
Medical attention The host family must arrange medical attention whenever necessary, at the student’s expense. The College should be informed of any medical problems affecting the student. All student visas holders will obtain private health insurance.
We hope that the homestay experience will be a rewarding one for both the student and the homestay family.
